The data for this drawing was taken from a Sheffield council document detailing recent demolition in Sheffield where waste has been locally processed/disposed of. Although recycling demolition waste is increasingly pertinent every project listed produced some landfill.

I am a student at The University of Sheffield reading a Masters in Architecture. My final year project is located on the former site of the Claywood Flats behind the station. My apologies for taking up your valuable time but I am concerned about the quality of new construction in and would be delighted to hear your opinion on the matter.
In short, I was wondering if you feel it is beneficial to promote new build above renovation in the city? Or perhaps the inverse?
I also wonder whether you are concerned that about the possibility of a spate of mass demolition in twenty years time when all the current new build tower blocks have succumbed to the same social sink which has left Park Hill requiring such a drastic facelift?
These perhaps appear to be loaded questions. This is not necessarily the case as I am yet to make up my own mind on the matter and was just curious about your political viewpoint.
Regards,
Tom Goodall

Allotments are exclusive. They are personal and non-inclusive. They create barriers not communities. They are often abandoned and ignored. An allotment is for life…. not just for the growing season.
